Gandhinagar: River Narmada as well as Bharuch-Dahej area have been kept out of the newly-designed Kalpasar region due to "serious ecological problems" affecting the sweet water lake to be build by damming Gulf of Khambhat.

GANDHINAGAR: Thanks to a major inter-state intervention, more water will be available for drinking as well as irrigation in large parts of Gujarat, which might face water scarcity this summer.

With the sun becoming more intense, the water crisis is also deepening in Madhya Pradesh. Water bodies like river, lakes and springs are drying up one by one. The underground water has gone down to around 600 ft. and has become inaccessible. It was said that Narmada is the only river whose water is not being utilised and flowing down to the sea.

Gandhinagar: The Congress on Wednesday released a politically explosive internal government note of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL), which says that for four long years, 2003 to 2008, the Gujarat government failed to provide Narmada water to its farmers despite huge quantity of water available for use.

AHMEDABAD : Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam project the lifeline of Gujarat has received Rs 5,375.36 crore as Central assistance, which is the highest assistance provided to any single project in the country. This was stated by Union minister of state for water resources Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav in Rajya Sabha. Yadav was replying to a question by Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani.
