This application seeks direction for an enquiry into the death of three teenaged girls on 04.07.2014 belonging to Gubbewad village, Indi Block, Bijapur District, Karnataka, who fell and drowned in an abandoned sand mining pit on Bhima River on the side of State of Maharashtra.

Dr. Sarvabhoum Bagali (State of Maharashtra) dated 19/09/2018 regarding illegal sand mining in rivers of India. Proceedings in the present commenced on the basis of an application seeking legal action against illegal sand mining in Yamuna River bed.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs. Pradeep Kumar Sinha dated 05/01/2018 regarding illegal mining of sand at the bank of river Narangi, Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh. Fact of illegal mining is not disputed. The Court said the equipment used for sand mining in the present case is a JCB which when used h as a capacity to do environmental deg radation to the highest extent.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs. Virender Singh (State of Gujarat) dated 05/01/2018 regarding illegal mining in Gujarat. Counsel appearing on behalf of the State of Gujarat has informed the Court that 7 noticees have filed their replies and others have yet to respond out of 28. NGT grants time to other noticees to file their responses before the next date of hearing (15/02/2018).

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs. Dr. Sarvabhoum Bagali (State of Karnataka) dated 11/09/2017 regarding mechanical mining of minerals in rivers and flood plains in Karnataka. Counsel for the State of Karnataka submitted before the Tribunal that they would permit regulated dredging for removal of clay and sand from the river for the purposes of maintaining its free flow only. There shall be no mining contract granted for in river and flood plain mining.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs Dr. Sarva Bhoum Bagali dated 30/05/2017 regarding illegal sand mining in the middle river Bhima, District Sholapur, Maharashtra.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs. Virender Singh (State of Gujarat) & various other Noticees dated 18/04/2017 regarding illegal mining in the state of Gujarat.

NGT directs issuance of Notice to persons who have been found doing illegal mining and the State Government have imposed upon them a penalty of more than Rs. 50 lakh.
