To urge for exempting State from sand mining ban

The government on Tuesday told the Goa Legislative Assembly that it will move the National Green Tribunal (NGT) next month, urging it to exempt Goa from the ban on the removal of sand from river beds.

The Mapusa municipal council (MMC) has sent notices to the mobile phone tower companies operating in the municipality's jurisdiction without the civic body's consent, warning erring companies of strict action against them.
