DOMESTIC oil and gas companies have taken measures to protect their operations from a tropical cyclone, named Phyan by the Indian met office, approaching India

City-based voluntary organisation Cool Earth has made a request to the Oil India Ltd authorities to develop the patch of the city land measuring around 20 km in length and about 20 metres in width, in which OIL pipeline has been laid. It has further pleaded for bringing this land under Factories Act of 1948 so that the right to use status can be granted to it.

The Union petroleum ministry has proposed a 44 per cent increase in prices of natural gas sold under the administered price mechanism (APM) by state-owned Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Oil India Ltd.

Clearing the air over the seismic survey on the Brahmaputra riverbed, the Multi Disciplinary Advisory Group (MDAG), constituted by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests for providing guidance on seismic survey, today clarified that Oil India Limited (OIL) had not been allowed to carry out any survey.

GUWAHATI, Dec 15: Green signal from the Multi-Disciplinary Group (MDAG) constituted in accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Environment and Forest is a must for Oil India Limited (OIL) to conduct the proposed seismic survey of the Brahmaputra bed. The MDAG will give its mandatory nod only if it finds that the survey will not affect the aquatic animals of the river.
