The steel ministry and the Orissa government have asked South Korean steel giant Posco to expedite the process of land acquisition by directly negotiating with private land holders to fructify its Rs 54,000-crore mega steel project in the state

PARADIP: With the Central Government virtually breathing down its neck to expedite work on the much delayed Posco project, the State Government has asked the district administration to convene a meeting of the Rehabilitation and Periphery Development Advisory Committee next month.

At the advice of the Centre, the Orissa government is convening a meeting this week with Posco and ArcelorMittal to resolve issues like land acquisition and mining leases which are blocking Rs 1 lakh crore investment plans by the two global steel giants in the state.
