The NGT, January 9, 2024 considered the reports filed by the state of Haryana, NCT Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and called it "deficient".

Due to coordinated action taken by the various concerned departments, water quality of river Yamuna has improved in the period of January 2023 to December 2023 in comparison to the corresponding months in the period of January 2022 to December 2022.
