Acute shortage of technical staff in the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) prevents it from closely monitoring hospitals in the City to check if they adhere to different environmental norms, according to a top official.

IMPHAL, June 29: Mass participation for making the state pollution free was sought by various delegates attending the 20th foundation day celebration of the Manipur Pollution Control Board at its office premises at Lamphelpat, Imphal today.

The celebration started with the lighting of inaugural lamp by MLA, E Dwijamani Singh, chairman of the Manipur Pollution Control Board.

KOCHI: District Collector M Beena, on Monday instructed the Water Authority, the Pollution Control Board and the Aluva Municipality to take steps to prevent the disposal of waste materials in the Periyar. The instruction was given at a meeting convened by the Human Rights Commission.

Pune, June 29 The State Government is set to launch the environment policy for the State, Ms Valsa R. Nair Singh, Chairman, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), and Secretary, Environment Department, Government of Maharashtra, said here today.

The move is the first of its kind in the country.

She said the draft policy was ready and would be submitted to the Cabinet in a week.
