NEW DELHI: The Union Government is preparing ecotourism guidelines to promote responsible tourism involving the local community around tiger reserves, while at the same time regulating the mushrooming lodges which threaten wildlife habitats.

The Centre has denied that there is any plan or proposal to stop tourism in the tiger reserves of the country. It said that the tourism activities would be strictly regulated to ensure that ecologically sustainable tourism practices were followed.
