The Orissa High Court on Wednesday admitted an appeal of Vedanta Aluminium Limited (VAL) challenging the Union government's decision to reject its application for regularising its expansion works at Lanjigarh in Kalahandi districts.

The two-member bench comprising chief justice V.
Gopalagowda and justice H.S. Bhalla, while admitting the application, posted the date of hearing for February 21.

VEDANTA Aluminium on Tuesday sought the Orissa government's intervention for leasing out a bauxite mine in Kalahandi district, close to the company's alumina refinery at Lanjigarh.

Vedanta Aluminum chief operating officer Mukesh Kumar met top government officials including chief secretary B K Patnaik, impressing upon them to bail out the one-million-tonne refinery plant.
