The State Government is all set to say no to Bt brinjal and is also contemplating declaring Karnataka, as a state free from genetically modified crops (GM-free state).

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa gave a hint to this effect in a meeting with scientists, representatives of non-governmental organisations and Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, in Bangalore on Wednesday.

Ahmedabad: Setting at rest the speculations over the commercial approval of Bt brinjal, Jairam Ramesh, minister of state for environment and forests (MoEF), said a final decision on the approval of Bt brinjal was yet to be taken. He said the doubts and concerns raised over the issue would not be neglected.
