Mahuva (Bhavnagar): Students in schools of Mahuva have taken the lead in vulture conservation and developing feeding sites for the endangered species. According to officials, there were over 140 vultures in the area in 2005. The number fell to below 30 in the 2007 census. According to a rough estimate there are now over 90-odd vultures in Mahuva taluka.

Vultures might be getting spotted in the wild but their near-stagnant population does not make it look like a real revival.
