When it was pointed out during a “meet-the-press” programme here that the ban was not even being implemented in malls, Mr. Kumar attributed it to the squads being diverted to Kukke Subramanya but later said that a complaint lodged against officials that stated plastics had been “robbed” by them after a raid had affected the morale of the officials. Irate residents to meet CM over ‘illegal dumping’

Roiled by garbage trucks being allowed inside the Mandur landfill site despite protests, members of the Mandur grama panchayat on Tuesday said they would meet Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar shortly to discuss the matter. The residents of Mandur remained indoors as ban orders under Section 144 of the CrPC remained in force for the fourth consecutive day in the village in the wake of protests against dumping of garbage at the landfill site.

Amid tight security, nearly 200 truckloads of garbage from the City were dumped at the landfill site. Strong protests had broken out against what the villagers call deception by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
