GANDHINAGAR: The state government is now preparing a final draft plan to install water meters in the state capital. The move came after the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) asked the state government to install water meters in the government quarters.

A number of public and private sector enterprises have put the state in a legal fix by refusing to cough up water tariffs that have been imposed by the government.

Until three years ago, several parts of the city received water only for a couple of hours a day, activists say. But the situation has improved now for different reasons.
