Due to the negligent attitude of the department of Haryana water supply and sanitation, the project of setting up of four tubewells, boosting stations and water pipelines in Pinjore town to cope with the water scarcity problem is hanging fire for more than three years.

Large tracts of paddy fields have been inundated and about 35 wells in Kushem Waddo, Aldona, has been polluted by the flow of saline water, as the 250-metre bundh near ferry wharf in Corjuem (Aldona) has breached at seven places.

Drilling more borewells may not be the answer to Bangalore

Many of these bore wells have yielded well in the past but now are dry. This is true of almost all the Southern states. When these life providing bore wells fail they cause great trouble as alternative sources of water are sought.

HNB extended the safe drinking water and sanitation project to Gonewa, a village in the Rambewa Divisional Secretariat, about 22 kms from Anuradhapura. The villagers in Gonewa lacked sufficient sanitation facilities and access to fresh water prior to the launch of this project, a media release said.
