Mumbai: Tata Power Company has chalked out a plan to add 150-200 mw of wind energy assets in fiscal 2010-11, a company release said.

Steel plants in Punjab, which constitute a large small and medium enterprise (SME) cluster in northern India, have begun working for a cleaner and greener environment.

A few industrialists from the region have set up wind turbine projects to provide cleaner energy, and others are considering following their example.

The Indian Wind Power Association, a representative body of wind energy generation companies, has approached the Andhra Pradesh Government with a request to hike the power tariff from Rs 3.50 to Rs 7 per unit.

This would help attract more investments into the State. Even if such a hike made, the tariff would still be lower than the peak purchase tariff of Rs 8 per unit, it contended.

The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) today said, it was estimated that around 5,000 mega watt (Mw) of power can be generated through wind energy in Tamil Nadu. Of this, 4,889 Mw has already achieved in March. The agency also said wind-based power generation will be enhanced further and next focus will be on solar.

Kurnool, June 2: The managing director of Enercon India Private Limited, Mr Yogesh Mehra, said that the company would commission a wind energy plant with an outlay of Rs 600 crores under the Vaayu India Power Corporation Limited project in Kolimigandla mandal in Kurnool district.
