Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change & Others dated 03/07/2017 regarding thermal power plants located in the basin area of river Ganga are discharging any effluent into river Ganga or its tributaries.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own motion Vs. State of Punjab dated 29/06/2017 regarding delay in Amritsar STP project. NGT expresses its displeasure on the working of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board and the Project Proponent who have failed to discharge their obligations. NGT notes that they have not even tested the outlet effluent from the STP. NGT directs the Project Proponent to pay environmental compensation of Rs.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. A. Kishan Rao & Ors. Vs. Union of India & Others dated 12/06/2017 regarding pollution caused by pharmaceutical industries in Telangana. The Applicant (Dr. A. Kishan Rao) is seeking clarification of the order passed by the Court by which grant of consent by the Board is subject to certain conditions.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M/s. Mehdad & Others Vs. Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change & Others dated 31/05/2017 regarding declaration and notification of the CZMP (Coastal Zone Management Plans) in relation to coastal states. NGT says that it is evident that the states are not coordinating and that despite lapse of more than 6 years the hazardous line which is a very foundation of the preparation of CZMP, has not been fixed.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rajendra Singh Bhandari Vs. State of Uttarakhand & Others dated 30/05/2017 regarding appointment of chairman and member secretaries of various pollution control boards. NGT notes that despite the Court's Order which granted three month's time to Pollution Boards to make appointment of qualified people to important posts the order was flouted. NGT issues show cause notice to all the Chairmen of the respective Boards who have not been appointed in consonance with the Judgment of the Tribunal.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Society for Preservation of Kasauli and its Environs Vs Bird’s View Resort & Others dated 30/05/2017 regarding unauthorized construction of hotels in close vicinity of Kasauli area in the State of Himachal Pradesh. It was brought before the notice of the court that there are instances where plans were sanctioned for a limited purpose but they have been flagrantly violated, for instance, where 7 rooms were sanctioned, 50 rooms have been constructed.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs Dr. Sarva Bhoum Bagali dated 30/05/2017 regarding illegal sand mining in the middle river Bhima, District Sholapur, Maharashtra.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own motion Vs. State of Punjab dated 29/05/2017 regarding delay in Amritsar STP project. The affidavit filed by the Project Proponent as well as the State of Punjab states that that there are certain deficiencies which are still persisting in the functioning of the plant. Secondly, they are not able to take 100% sewage generated, for treatment of it in accordance with law.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Society for Preservation of Kasauli and its Environs (SPOKE) Vs. Nilgiri Hotel & Others dated 26/05/2017 regarding unauthorized construction in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. NGT noted that even though Hotel Devshikha was granted consent to operate no inspection was conducted by SPCB. NGT expressed its displeasure at the report submitted by the Junior Engineer of the State Pollution Control Board and said that the report is primarily prepared for convenience of the hotel.

Judgement of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Jan Sahyog Manch Vs Ministry of Environment and Forest & Others dated 25/05/2017 regarding environment and ecological damage caused by the use of lead in manufacturing of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipes and other products. The Applicant Jan Sahyog Manch has also prayed for stringent directions for withdrawing the PVC pipes out of the market which are containing lead based heat stabilizer.
