Aquaculture in changing climate of Sundarban

Aquaculture is considered as one of the major livelihood options for the peoples of Sundarban. Building the resilience to climate changes and uncertain future hazards is a cornerstone of the strategy for enhancing the adaptive capacity of fish farmers. Keeping these facts in mind, the project entitled “Development of Climate Resilient Aquaculture Strategies for Sagar and Basanti Blocks of Indian Sundarban” was awarded to West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences as a sponsored research component of NICRA (National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture). This is the survey report on climate change vulnerabilities, aquaculture practices & coping measures in Sagar and Basanti blocks of Indian Sundarban.
