Africa's under eighteen population is expected to increase by 1 billion while overall population will double in size reaching 2.4 billion by 2050, a new report by the UN says. According to the report, 'Generation 2030 Africa' on Africa's child demographics, in the next 35 years 1.8 billion babies will be born in Africa which is already the most populous continent with more than 1 billion people. By 2050 the continent will be home to one in every four of the world's inhabitants, and almost 40 per cent of its children under 18 years. According to UNICEF Africa's population surge is concentrated in sub-Saharan Africa, fuelled by high fertility and declining mortality.
