The National Green Tribunal (NGT), December 7 directed submission of an action plan by the Director, Mining and Geology Directorate, Madhya Pradesh, DFO and District Magistrate, Shivpuri on illegal stone mining in forest area of Mohangarh.

Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) in its report to the NGT said that there are a total of 167 industries and they are categorized into 17 types of polluting industries.

The online data of emissions from these industries is displayed on the CECB website.

The applicant, Mukesh Kumar Chauhan in his complaint before the NGT said that J K Cement, village Satha, Aligarh and other companies are getting clinker, required by them for manufacture of cement, transported from Harduaganj railway station near village Satha, district Aligarh. During loading and unloading clinker evaporates causing damage to the environment and health hazards to the residents.

There is environmental destruction caused due to dumping of debris of the rocks cut for establishment of statue of Jain Tirthankara, Rishabhanatha. The statue has been carved out of the Mangi-Tungi hills, Tahrabad, Nashik, Maharashtra. The extent of the area affected as per affidavit submitted by the District Level Committee is 7.310 hectares.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Atul Singh Chauhan Vs Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change & Others dated 30/11/2022.

The application has been filed by the State of Uttar Pradesh through Additional Chief Secretary, Environment seeking directions for discontinuing the Oversight Committee, constituted by the Tribunal vide order dated October 21, 2019 on suggestion of the state itself in its application dated July 16, 2019.

The NGT directed the Divisional Forest Officer, Nagore, Rajasthan to look into the matter of illegal cutting of trees.
