The matter related to mass fish kill in Periyar river in Kerala after suspected effluent release.

The NGT was informed that the High Court of Kerala passed an order dated June 10, 2024 directing formation of a committee. The High Court directed that the committee should file their report containing the suggestions and actions to betaken to curb the pollution in the Periyar river.

A report was called from the State Pollution Control Board who have submitted the report with certain violations.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zone Bench, Bhopal) regarding illegal sand mining being done at the Balod Pod sand mine located in Balod district, Chhattisgarh.

A report was called from the joint committee and the members of the joint committee visited the site and submitted the report that the inspection was done by the mining department and environmental compensation has been imposed.

Report by the Central Groundwater Authority in the matter of Suo Moto arsenic found in groundwater in 25 states dated November 18, 2024.

When the matter was listed before the NGT, August 7, 2024, wherein CGWA stated that the reports from seven states/UTs namely Maharashtra, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Tripura, Gujarat, Odisha and the Union Territory of Daman and Diu had not been received.

NGT, Central Zone Bench, Bhopal, November 14, 2024 directed Collector, Guna and the Tehsildar, Raghogarh, Guna to remove all encroachments from the forest land and hand over the peaceful possession to the Forest Department according to rules and land must be demarcated, identified and protected by a viable means.
