In the application, the validity of CRZ Notification 2019 is under challenge. Applicants have prayed to declare the notification ultra-virus or, alternatively, to declare certain provisions of the notification as arbitrary, illegal, and ultra-vires. In pursuance to the order dated October 16, 2024 passed by two Member Bench of Western Zonal Bench, the present larger Bench has been constituted.

The complaint of the applicant is that  illegal secondary collection point has been setup near Apsara border of Ghaziabad adjoining Delhi on GT road at District Ghaziabad. The allegation in the application is in respect of mismanagement and illegal throwing of garbage in that secondary collection point.

Reply by Lucknow Development Authority OA No 594 of 2024 regarding conservation and management of groundwater in Lucknow. The NGT vide order dated September 4, 2024 took suo moto cognisance on the basis of a news item published in navbharattimes.indiatimes.com dated April 13, 2024 on the issue of groundwater depletion in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Action taken report by Government of Assam, Department of Housing and Urban Affairs on used water management in the urban local bodies of the state.

A processing gap of 435.5 MLD has been identified for used water management in Assam. To address the same, Sewage Treatment Plants with a total capacity of 338.50 MLD have been planned and are currently at various stages of development. For instance, a sewage treatment plant (STP) with a design capacity of 2 MLD, has been made operational in the city of Nagaon, implemented by Assam Urban Water and Supply and Sewerage Board (AUWSSB).

The Ministry of Civil Aviation of the Union Government decided to build a commercial Airport at Silchar in Assam since the existing defence airport is not suitable for domestic civilian operations. Three tea estates, namely, (i) Doloo; (ii) Khoreel; and (iii) Silcoorie were identified by the Government of Assam for the sites of the airport.
