Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Funds for increasing forest cover, 11/02/2019. The State/UTs wise details of forest cover along with percentage as per ISFR-2017 is given in Annexure-I. National Afforestation Programme (NAP) of the Ministry of Environment & Forests is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for afforestation and eco-restoration of degraded forests and adjoining areas through people’s participation.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Green India Mission, 08/02/2019. National Mission for a Green India (GIM) is one of the eight Missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change. It aims to address climate change by increasing the forest/tree cover, improvement in the quality of forest/tree cover and provision of alternative fuel energy sources to households. GIM activities were started in the Financial Year 2015-16. So far funds amounting to Rs. 200.76 Cr. have been released under GIM to twelve states for carrying out GIM activities.

Noting that forest cover in the northeastern states of the country decreased in 2017 compared to what it was in 2015, a parliamentary panel has recommended the environment ministry to take necessary steps to arrest the declining trend.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Implementation of Green India Mission, 27/03/2017. Green India Mission (GIM) is being implemented in 13 states at present namely Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab and Uttrakhand.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Green Cover, 21/03/2017. As per the study Urban Greening Guidelines, the per capita availability of green space may decline due to increase in urban population. The city wise details are given in Annexure-I. The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) implemented by Ministry of Urban Development has also inter-alia objective of increasing the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well maintained open spaces (e.g. parks). The details of funds earmarked for city parks under AMRUT are at Annexure-II.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Funds for afforestation, 12/12/2016. The Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change has two Centrally Sponsored afforestation Schemes (CSS) for environment protection, namely National Afforestation Programme (NAP) Scheme and the Green India Mission (GIM) for afforestation and eco-restoration of degraded forests and adjoining landscapes with participatory approach. The State-wise details of funds released during the financial years 2013-14 to 2016-17-till date under NAP and GIM are given in Annexure-I.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Green India Mission, 06/12/2016. The National Mission for a Green India (GIM) has a target of increasing forest/tree cover to the extent of 5 million hectares (mha) and to improving quality of forest/tree cover of another 5 mha of forest/non forest land.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Green India Mission, 09/08/2016. The National Mission for a Green India (GIM) is currently being implemented in nine States namely Uttarakhand, Punjab, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Mizoram, Manipur and Kerala.

The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) is sponsoring three major Schemes for protection of environment and afforestation i.e. National Afforestation Programme (NAP) Scheme, National Mission for a Green India (GIM) and Intensification of Forest Management Scheme (IFMS) for implementation by the States including the State of Rajasthan.
