Taking note of adverse consequences of retreating of Himalayan glaciers, a Parliamentary panel has recommended the Centre to make adequate financial allocation and infrastructure available for an extensive study of the ecosystem to measure the extent of glacial retreat and the ways to mitigate its effects.

A Gender Policy Framework for State Action Plans on Climate Change was submitted to the Central Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) by the Climate and development knowledge network (CDKN). Based on this policy brief, MoEFCC has asked all States to incorporate gender dimensions in SAPCCs.

The National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) of India recognized the role of state and local governments in its implementation. It was clear that adaptation and mitigation challenges will only be addressed if state governments play an active role in the planning and implementation process.

Climate change is one of the most compelling global challenges, with a warming planet being a present-day reality rather than a potential future threat. India, like other developing countries, is also suffering the brunt of climate change.

This Climate Scorecard Report provides descriptions of climate change policies that have been put in place by the leading greenhouse gas emitting countries. These policies provide important insights on what each country is doing to reduce emissions and implement the Paris Agreement.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Factors responsible for climate change, 09/05/2016. The Government launched National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) in 2008 which outlines India’s strategy to meet the challenge of Climate Change.

The report examines the National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem (NMSHE) in detail and explores its linkages with the Himalayan State Action Plans on Climate Change (SAPCCs). The report also seeks to answer a key question – How much scope there is for the states in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) to leverage NMSHE?

The report compares different aspects of the State Action Plans on Climate Change (SAPCCs) such as the climate profile, vulnerability assessments, sector-wise climate change strategies and climate change action plans in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).

Question raised in Lok Sabha on impact of climate change, 21/07/2015. A scientific study to assess the impact of climate change has been undertaken and a report entitled “Climate Change and India: A 4X4 Assessment - A Sectoral and Regional Analysis for 2030s” was published in 2010 by the Ministry.
