AHMEDABAD: At a time when the proposed National Food Security Bill is being debated, the Canadian government has expressed interest in helping Gujarat reduce food-related issues.

In a meeting with Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, the head of government of Canada's Manitoba province, Greg Selinger said the Manitoba government will set up its Food Development Centre in the state.

Ahmedabad: The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is practising what it teaches—making the most of available resources. The premier institute may soon become an energy independent business school by using solar energy and other energy-efficient products.

IIM-A alumnus Akshat Khare and his partner Dhaval Shah, a Nirma University graduate, are helping the institute go the solar way by installing solar streetlights on the campus. The duo, through their start-up Nessa Illumination Technologies have also replaced IIM-A’s 150-watt sodium streetlights with 60-watt LED streetlights.

To Cut Emissions In Udaipur, Rajkot & Vizag

Ahmedabad: Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (Cept) University and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) are going to make Udaipur, Rajkot and Visakhapatnam low carbon cities. The institutes will work together on improving the mobility in these cities while lowering carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. As lead agencies of this project, the institutes will help civic authorities set up greener transport system infrastructure, which will help bring down carbon emissions in the cities.
