One more water body in the City appears to be disappearing fast, with hunderds of truckloads of soil being dumped into Chunchaghatta lake.

The People’s Campaign for Right to Water (PCRW), a non-government organisation, which noticed the illegal activity, has lodged a complaint with the chief secretary to the State government, commissioners of BBMP and BDA, deputy commissioner of Bangalore Urban district, Bangalore South tahsildar, Lake Development Authority and Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force, but to no avail.

The ongoing flora and fauna survey by green groups at Kaikondrahalli lake has led to the identification of a variety of new species.
Around 43 species of birds, 26 species of reptiles and 3,000 plants comprising at least 33 varieties have been identified during the survey that started about seven months ago. Volunteers and local citizens were roped in to identify and list the various flora and fauna species.

Cities like Mysore, Bangalore and Mandya may not face a drinking water problem this year, with the Krishnarajasagar (KRS) and Kabini reservoirs recording enough storage. But things do not appear to be too rosy for Hassan that depends on the Hemavathi reservoir for its water needs.

BWSSB's threat of disconnecting water supply turns hollow
