In a significant development, the Central Government, in exercise of its authority under Section 176 of the Electricity Act, 2003, has introduced amendments to the Electricity Rules, 2005. These modifications, titled the Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2024, are set to be effective upon their official publication in the Gazette.
The Central Government, in collaboration with the Bureau, has introduced amendments to the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, 2023, as outlined in the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
The Ministry of Power has issued the Procedure for Implementation of Uniform Renewable Energy Tariff. A notice to this effect was issued on 25th October, 2023. It may be recalled that the Electricity (Amendment) Rules 2022 were notified for the implementation of a uniform renewable energy tariff.
