The Ministry of Power has issued a resolution notifying the Guidelines for Tariff Based Competitive Bidding Process for Procurement of Power from Grid Connected Solar PV Power Projects.

The Ministry of Power (MOP) has published the Guidelines for Tariff Based Competitive Bidding Process for Procurement Power from Grid Connected Wind Power Projects. These guidelines, dated 26th July, 2023 were published on 2nd August, 2023.

The Ministry of Power (MoP) on July 26, 2023, notified the Electricity (Second Amendment) Rules, 2023 further to amend the Electricity Rules, 2005. The following has been amended namely: Rule 15 which talks about the Subsidy accounting and payment has been amended.

The Ministry of Power has notified the National Electricity Plan Notification (Amendment) Rules, 2023. These Rules were notified on 30th June, 2023 and come into effect from that same date. The rules amend the existing National Electricity Plan Notification Rules, 2004.

The Ministry of Power has recently released a notification on June 30, 2023, introducing additional amendments to the Electricity Rules, 2005. Prior to the first amendment, a power plant could qualify as a captive generating plant if the captive user held at least twenty-six percent ownership.

The power ministry notified the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, 2023, to develop the domestic carbon market as the country aims at decarbonising the economy and has committed to cut emissions by 45% from the 2005 levels by 2030.

Ministry of Power has carried out a series of reforms in the power sector, which have facilitated ease of doing business, ease of living, protecting rights of electricity consumers and have also kept the price of power at reasonable rates.

The Ministry of Power (MoP) has released a report titled- National Energy Data: Survey and Analysis 2021-22. The report has been prepared by MoP through Bureau of Energy Efficiency in collaboration with NITI Aayog, various line ministries and departments, institutions, and other stakeholders.

The Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Amendment Rules, 2023, mention that the time of day (ToD) tariff specified by the state commission for commercial and industrial consumers during peak hours of the day shall not be less than 1.2 times the normal tariff and for other consumers, it shall not be less than 1.1 times the normal tariff.

Ministry of Power has notified Guidelines for Tariff Based Competitive Bidding Process for Procurement of Firm and Dispatchable Power from Grid Connected Renewable Energy Power Projects with Energy Storage Systems. These guidelines were notified on 9th June, 2023.
