As informed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP), an Expert Committee constituted by it in June, 2019 suggested to go for fresh tenders for balance works of Irrigation Project. Thereafter, tenders were called by the State for balance works of main dam package and left side connectivities of headworks in August, 2019.

Government of India has launched the Namami Gange Programme in June, 2014, with the total budgetary outlay of Rs.20,000 crore for the period from 2014-15 till 31 December 2020 to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga and its tributaries.

The Soil Health Card scheme launched by the Modi Government during the financial year 2014-15 with a view to address the decline of soil nutrients, has started reaping fruit. In the second phase of the scheme 11.69 crore Soil Health Cards have been distributed to farmers in the last two years. A study conducted by the National Productivity Council (NPC) says the application of Soil Health Card recommendations has led to a decline of 8-10% in use of chemical fertilizers and also raised productivity by 5-6%.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved National Policy on Biofuels – 2018.The Policy categorises biofuels as "Basic Biofuels" viz. First Generation (1G) bioethanol & biodiesel and "Advanced Biofuels" - Second Generation (2G) ethanol, Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) to drop-in fuels, Third Generation (3G) biofuels, bio-CNG etc. to enable extension of appropriate financial and fiscal incentives under each category.

73 cities surveyed for cleanliness have been categorized based on the marks scored by each of them in the ‘Swachh Survekshan-2016’ survey, results of which were announced by the Urban Development Minister Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu. 15 cities who scored more than 70% of the total marks of 2000 were categorized as Leaders, 20 cities with scores in the range of 60%-70% are Aspiring Leaders, those with scores in the range of 50%-60% are the cities who need to accelerate their efforts and cities who scored below 50% are named Slow Movers who need to work harder to improve santiation.

Mysuru in Karnataka remained the cleanest city in the country while Dhanbad in Jharkhand came at the bottom of 73 major cities surveyed for sanitation scenario last month. Results of ‘Swachh Survekshan-2016’ were released by the Minister of Urban Development Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu at a media conference. 53 cities with a population of above ten lakhs each and 22 capitals that do not have that much population were selected for the survey. NOIDA and Kolkata desired to participate in the next round of survey.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for a Policy on Promotion of City Compost. Under the policy, a provision has been made for Market development assistance of Rs. 1500 per tonne of city compost for scaling up production and consumption of the product.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today said that for the first time in the country, the people, and the urban leadership would play the pivotal role in deciding the future course of their cities. He was speaking at the launch of three major urban development initiatives: AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation); Smart Cities Mission; and Housing for All (Urban), at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
