Grievance in the application is that there is illegal construction of houses and shops under the high-power transmission lines without safety distance as per the laid down norms at Ashwath Nagar, Thanisandra main road, under BBMP Ward No.6. Storm water drains connected to the lakes of Bangalore were also encroached, resulting in untreated waste water being discharged into the said drains. On account of illegal constructions and parking, the roads were blocked.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of In re: News item published on 21.11.2021 in the Indian Express titled “Lakes of Bengaluru : Industrial effluents, raw sewage; stinky tale of Chandrapura lake” dated March 29, 2022. The matter related to damage to the Chandrapura lake and failure of statutory regulators to take remedial action. The media report mentions that the buffer zone of the lake has been encroached upon and waste is being dumped into the lake. It is choked by encroachments and affected by effluents and waste.

Rejoinder on behalf of Tejas S Rao Vs State of Karnataka & Others dated 18/01/2022. The appellant (Tejas S Rao) filed an application before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) challenging the order, June 17, 2021 passed by the Magadi Planning authority on the application of the appellant for the establishment of fuel station to an extent of 1 acre at Survey No.4/23, Varthur village, Thaverekere hobli, Bangalore south taluk, Karnataka.
