JOWAI: Education Minister Dr RC Laloo launched five public services buses sponsored under the 13th Finance Commissioner Award 2010-11 and implemented by the Jowai Municipal Boaord was launched at Circuit House Jowai on Monday.

Along with the Education Minister, the JHADC Chief Executive Member, Lamdibok Sumer, the Officer on Special Duty, Urban Affair, T Lyngwa, the Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner besides other senior government officers, representative of localities and prominent residents of Jowai were also present during the launching program.

SHILLONG: The CSWO has filed an Right to Information (RTI) seeking different facts about the land acquired by the Government for New Shillong Township at Mawdiangdiang and the surrounding areas.

In an RTI application filed with the Public Information Officer of the Revenue department, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing sought the total area of land acquired as on date for New Shillong Township.

SHILLONG: The KSU’s Jaiñtia Hills district unit has decided to oppose Friday’s public hearing on the proposal of the Cement Manufacturing Company Limited (CMCL) to acquire more land for mining of lime stones in Lum Shnong area in Jaiñtia Hills.

The Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) is scheduled to conduct the public hearing.

VIP road from Mawlai to Umroi hits roadblock
