Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zonal Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Pramod Sharma & Ors. Vs. Nearly 70 per cent brick kilns of the country are yet to adopt environment-friendly brick making technology to reduce pollution as the deadline for doing so expires on June 30.

A mobile court yesterday fined owners of four brick fields in Poba upazila under the district and closed one of those for causing huge losses to agricultural products by emitting black smoke.

The Department of Environment (DoE) is set to take legal actions against brick kilns in 16 north-western districts, which had previously been identified as environmentally hazardous.

Jammu and Kashmir. It is stated that the respondents are digging earth for the purpose of making bricks without environmental clearance to the extent of more than 10 meters in contravention of the Government of India Notification dated 24.06.2013.

Around 90 per cent children and labourers working in brick factories in Bhaktapur district are found suffering from skin disease and respiratory related problems, said doctors.

A good number of brick kilns are operating along the Mumbai highway between Nellore and Atmakur, a fact that has triggered concern among those who travel frequently on this highway.
