The BJP government in Karnataka on Sunday decided to stage a state-wide agitation from September 1 demanding that President Prathibha Patil approves the anti-cattle slaughter Bill.

Jaipur: In what could probably be the first-of-its-kind in the country, a corporate organic dairy farm is coming up in the textile town of Bhilwara. Once complete this would be the only fully automated sterilised organic cow milk plant housing 1,500 cows at Raila in Bhilwara.
The plant has just started operations with 200 cross bred Holstein-Friesian cows.

A Congress delegation from Karnataka, headed by its opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah, will meet President Pratibha Patil on August 16 to plead her not to give assent to the anti-cow slaughter bill.

Two days ago, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappaa had met the President seeking assent for the Bill, which is also being opposed by JDS.

The indiscriminate ingestive behavior of cattle predisposes them to accidental swallowing of both penerating and non penetrating foreign bodies that settle in the reticulum and rumen most of the times. As a result of extensive occupation of grazing land by human inhabitants there is dearth of the same for cattle. Further, reduction in space in the urban areas has pushed the cattle population to fend themselves in the streets.
