The population of India has increased by more than 181 million during the decade 2001-2011 according to Census 2011, the 15th Census of India since 1872.  It also states that 2001-2011 is the first decade (with the exception of 1911-1921) which has actually added lesser population compared to the previous decade.

JAIPUR: The population of Rajasthan has grown by 21.44% in the last decade and currently stands at 68,621,012. The number of males in the state stands at 35,620,086 while that of females is 33,000,926.

AHMEDABAD: The state's literacy rate saw a 10.17% growth.

The celebrations unfolding about 16% increase in tiger numbers (to 1,706) across the country deserve a closer look.
