CSE comments on CPCB's recently released Study of Exhaust Gases from Different Fuel-based Vehicles for Carbonyls and Methane Emissions. Urges CPCB to recall and urgently review this study to make it more scientifically tenable.

NEW DELHI: Pollution is rising to "unhealthy levels" in the Indian capital, and this can cause several health problems, the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) said Monday.

The levels of both particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide were up.

Multiplicity of regulatory authorities has not been carefully considered by the government while proposing to set up the National Environment Assessment and Monitoring Authority (NEAMA).

The directive, signed by a senior official, was issued after a bulk of the Sivakasi produce failed to meet the national standards in tests conducted by the central board.
