Andhra Pradesh Government and the Central Water Commission were caught in a war of words over fixing the responsibility for the failure in anticipating the worst ever floods in Krishna River earlier this month.
Oct. 13: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday asked the state government to clarify whether it had received any early warning from the Central Water Commission regarding floods in the Krishna River.

Oct.12: The state government has decided to lodge a complaint with the Central government against Mr A.K. Bajaj, chairman of the Central Water Commission.
Mr Bajaj in an interview to the media was stated to have observed that the floods in the state were man-made and alleged that the government had not responded to the alerts issued by the CWC, according to top officials in the government.

BERHAMPUR: After being put on the backburner for decades, the Cheligada irrigation project in Ganjam district has finally been put on fast-track by the Government. The project will irrigate lands in Ganjam and Gajapati districts, supply drinking water to Berhampur city and generate power.
