Ranchi, July 30: Jharkhand has embarked on a mammoth project to rejuvenate five dams and reservoirs that act as prime water sources for capital Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh and Chatra, a move that will also help the state tap central funds.

The above figure explain that Chatra, Garhwa, Palamu, Hazaribag Kodarma, East Singhbhum district has more than 40% of geographical area as forest cover. Beside this, these districts are monocrop or no crop area. Chatra, Garhwa, Palamu are drought prone districts and virtually no agriculture practice is possible there. These districts are highly Maoists affected.

RANCHI, 3 MAY: National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today said, the company was in search of an alternative site in Jharkhand to relocate the proposed 1,980 MW capacity super thermal power project that was to come up near Tandwa in the Chatra district.
