A 22-YEAR-OLD nurse working in a private hospital here was admitted with A(H1N1) influenza to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Wednesday night.

The woman, hailing from Kerala, developed severe respiratory problems on returning from her hometown.

She was administered Tamiflu tablets and quarantined at a special ward in the CMCH.

CHENNAI: A team of experts from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will visit forest areas in Sathyamangalam, Coimbatore and the Nilgiris for three days from next Monday to approve funding for the State Forest Department's Natural Resources Management Project.

ERODE: Erode MP A. Ganesha Murthi has appealed to the Central Government to declare Erode, Coimbatore and Tirupur districts as Special Zone for Organic Farming and initiate concerted efforts to promote the organic farm practices.

Many farmers in the three districts had taken up organic farming at a large scale. A majority of the people in the districts depend on agriculture for their income.

Coimbatore: Farmers in Kurumbapalayam, Kullakkapalayam and Podanur in Achipatti area of Pollachi have urged the administration to take steps to control the pollution caused by two companies.

Villagers in a signed memorandum to the Collector pointed out that the pollution emitted by these two companies was effecting the ground water and agricultural lands.
