The Appellant is seeking quashing of the Common Environmental Clearance dated January 17, 2025 granted by State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Bihar, in favor Sandeep Chandak for Sand Blocks 3, 4 and 5 namely sand mining project units-II on the Cheer river, district Banka, Bihar, covering an area of 67 hectares.

Reply by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in OA No 1094 of 2024 (News item titled "All Indian salt sugar brands contain microplastics reveals study" which appeared in the Business Standard, August 13, 2024).

CPCB in its report, March 26, 2025 said that the fourth amendment to the Plastic Waste Management Rules, February 16, 2022 notified "Guidelines on extended producer responsibility (EPR) for plastic packaging" in the schedule II of the rules.

An application was filed before the NGT based on a newspaper article published in the Dainik Bhaskar, December 10, 2024. The article talked about illegal construction and encroachment of a waterbody (pokhara) which is being used as a waste disposal place creating environmental hazards. The applicant said that the site should be developed under the Jal Jeevan Hariyali scheme.

Status report by DM, Doda in OA No 178 of 2024 (News item appearing in Greater Kashmir dated 15/01/2024 titled Increasing pollution badly affecting water bodies in Bhaderwah). The status report filed by the Deputy Commissioner / District Magistrate, Doda, March 24, 2025 said that a strong monitoring mechanism has been established to review the status of activities. Quality of water is being monitored closely alongside J&KPCC.

In the original application, registered suo motu, the tribunal considered the issue of rising ground level ozone pollution across India in major cities, posing serious health threat, particularly to those with respiratory problems.
