KOCHI: Following the footsteps of major cities in the country, Kochi too is marching ahead in its quest to curb the e-waste menace. The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI), the participating agency for the integrated environment awareness programme organised by the Kochi Corporation, has come up with an e-waste management project.

Putting the onus of re-cycling of electronic wastes (e-waste) on the producers, the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) has for the first time notified e-waste management rules.

KARACHI, Feb 27: A research has found extremely high level of contamination with toxic metals especially that of mercury in the roadside soil along the National Highway.

The alarming level of toxicants, particularly the high level of mercury at all selected sampling sites, poses grave threat to public health and requires serious immediate remedial efforts, according to the research.
