State-run Oil India today said it was forced to cut crude oil production at its fields in Assam after Numaligarh Refinery Ltd shut down plant for upgrade, reports PTI.

New Delhi: The ministerial panel on fuels under finance minister Pranab Mukherjee deferred a decision on either allowing oilmarketing companies to set pump prices in tune with international trend or simply raise petrol and diesel prices to reduce losses of state-run companies, ostensibly because key members could not attend the meeting on Monday.

Says Report Ignores Subsidies Offered By Developed Nations

New Delhi: India is expected to stand firm on its fuel subsidy regime at the meeting of G20 finance ministers at Busan in South Korea on Friday and tear into a report prepared for the grouping, blaming government dole for encouraging inefficient use of fossil fuels and discouraging a switch to greener energy sources.

The State of Madhya Pradesh became one of the leading States in the country to upgrade from BS-II to BS-III fuel. Indian Oil on behalf of the PSU Oil Industry launched the BS-III fuel in Madhya Pradesh on Monday in the presence of Urban Administration Minister Babulal Gaur and senior officials of IOCL.

AN empowered group of ministers chaired by finance minister Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to meet on June 7 to take policy decisions on pricing of petrol, diesel, kerosene and cooking gas.
