Gurgaon: With the government yet to find a solution to power shortage that has crippled industrial units in Udyog Vihar, industrialists in the area have decided to set up their own power plants through public-private partnership (PPP). The industry association has prepared a plan to construct four captive power plants, each having a capacity of 40MW, at a cost of Rs 40 crore.

By mid-2012, both Gurgaon and Faridabad can expect to have their power woes resolved. The multi-crore World Bank project for strengthening and augmenting the power distribution system of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) will improve the existing power situation in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Charkhi Dadri.

With the completion of an ambitious project of segregating domestic and agriculture load, all villages in Haryana will get three-phase power supply for the entire duration during which power is supplied.

The idea behind the move is to ensure that there is no shortage of power for drinking water and other activities dependent on three-phase power supply.

People of the millennium city have a reason to rejoice. They will now get CNG without standing in long queues. Like Delhi, the city will also get the gas directly by the pipeline from today.

Keeping up its promise, Haryana Gas Distribution Company has also reduced the price of the gas by Rs 3.50.
