CHANDIGARH: The Centre has sanctioned a Rs.1.75-crore scheme for Haryana under the National Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme for prevention of vector-borne diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Chikungunia in the State, Director Health Services (Malaria) Satbir Chaudhry said on Wednesday.

The local Municipal Council will engage workers on contract for two months for opening choked drains and removing garbage.

This was decided at a meeting of the council here today. The civic body also decided to give garbage collection work on contract and renew the contract for the fire brigade service.
