What comes as welcome news for Sultanpur National Park in Gurgaon, Bhindawas wildlife sanctuary in Jhajjar as well as another national park and seven other sanctuaries, the Central government has issued a draft notification declaring areas around these sites as eco-sensitive zones (ESZs). This would mean all development activity within 5-km radius of these spots will be restricted.

CHANDIGARH: Haryana has been able to curb the foot and mouth disease of animals to a large extent as no outbreak has been reported in the last four years, an official spokesman said here on Saturday.

He said the incidence of other diseases among animals had also reduced due to mass vaccination programme of the State Government.

Haryana Agricultural University scientists have expressed the possibility of insect and pest attacks on cotton crop in the prevailing weather conditions.

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has launched a new scheme to encourage energy conservation in villages of the state.
