Chandigarh: The Election Commission of India has issued guidelines for implementation and processing of various projects schemes, rural development programmes by the Central and the state governments. Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Sajjan Singh said all directions regarding the mode of conduct will be issued by the Commission.

A two-day conference of the state unit of the All-India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) concluded here yesterday. It was attended by over 200 delegates from various districts of the state.

Chandigarh: In what appears to be the first win for those fighting for the revival of Aravalis, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) is all set to hand over 379 acres of land in the hilly suburbs of Faridabad and Rs 45 crore for the redevelopment of forests there.

Gurgaon: Even after the Supreme Court has imposed a ban on mining in the Aravallis in the districts of Gurgaon, Faridabad and Mehwat in Haryana, the Conservator of Forests, R P Balwan found hundreds of trucks carrying stones from illegal mines in Mehwat on Thursday.

The team tried to stop and check permits granted to the trucks carrying stones but most fled the spot.

New Delhi: A day before Haryana auctions mining leases, many of which fall within the eco-sensitive Aravali zone, the Supreme Court sent a stern warning to the government: It will not tolerate any mining activity in the notified forest zones that would lead to desertification of the state.

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday refused to stay the proposed auction of mining sites in Sirohi and Khori Jamalpur in Faridabad district for extracting road metal and masonry stone. The auction is to take place on Tuesday.
