Chandigarh: A Radio Ecology Centre (REC) is being set up in Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, in collaboration with the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

Panchkula: The claims of the district authorities to chalk out a long-term strategy to check fires in the forest areas have fallen flat with the onset of summer as fire incidents were reported from different parts of the district today.

While more than six hactares of forest was destroyed in two fire incidents at Morni and Kalka, three minor incidents were reported from the town only.
