The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), as part of the Indo-French Space Collaboration, is planning to launch a satellite for climate research in a year's time.

The State Government will rope in Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to review MNREGS works. The ISRO will assist the government by providing satellite drawn high quality pictures of work sites. The government had held preliminary round talks with the space institute.

Chennai: The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle GSLVD3, the first Indian rocket to be powered by a totally indigenous cryogenic engine, will blast off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota at 4.27pm on Thursday. The 416-tonne vehicle will carry GSAT-4, a 2,218-kg communication satellite, to be put in an orbit 36,000km from earth. The countdown for the launch began at 11.27am.

Nearly 18 years after Indian space scientists began working on it and over a decade after the technology was denied to India by the US, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is ready to send into space a rocket powered by indigenously developed cryogenic technology.
