Mumbai: The handling of hazardous cargo might be stopped at the Haji Bunder port in Sewri, where a chlorine gas leak was reported on Wednesday. Following the incident, which sent 120 people to hospital, Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) officials have decided to discontinue the handling of hazardous cargo transported in containers at the port.

HALDIA, 13 JULY: Many industries which deal with hazardous chemicals and highly inflammable articles in Haldia have not yet been able to launch their own risk management system in order to prevent any industrial or chemical disaster.

Mumbai: Out of the 60,000 industries in the state, barely 2.5% have filed their annual environmental statement with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB). The statement is equivalent to an audit report and must be filed every year by industrial units to furnish details of their emissions and effluent discharge.
