PATHANAMTHITTA: The direct treatment of water in the Njunangar stream, a tributary of the Pampa, using ferrous chloride has kicked up a controversy.

All hazardous waste generating industries in Goa have been via a notice issued by the Goa State Pollution Control Board directed to make an application to the Board on or before January 4, 2010, for obtaining authorisation as required under the Hazardous Waste (Management, Handling and Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2008, notified under the Environment Protection Act, 1986.

Nangal: The Punjab State Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of the incident of death of thousands of fish in the Sutlej waters at Nangal. The commission has sought report in this regard from the state government, through the Chairman, Punjab State Pollution Control Board (PPCB), Patiala, and the Principal Secretary, Irrigation Department, Punjab, Chandigarh, by December 31.

Panic gripped the residents of the area, when huge smoke erupted and soon the industrial waste slowly and steadily engulfed the dry grass.
Vasco fire brigade personnel rushed to the site and extinguished the fire from spreading further.

NEW DELHI: The National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) on Monday approved an ambitious project to prevent the discharge of untreated municipal sewage and industrial effluent into the Ganga by 2020.

Supreme Court judgement dated 06/10/2009 on river Noyyal pollution. The Court was of the opinion that there has been unabated pollution by the members of Tirupur Dyeing Factory Owners. They cannot escape the responsibility to meet out the expenses of reversing the ecology. They are bound to meet the expenses of removing the sludge of the river.
