JAIPUR: After identifying ten more districts with poor water quality in the state, the medical health and family welfare department has decided to conduct a survey to find out the health related problems people are facing due to the presence of fluoride in water.

Jaipur is one of the 10 districts where the department under the National Programme for Prevention & Control of Fluorosis (NPPCF) would conduct a door-to-door survey. Dungerpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Pali, Jalore, Dausa, Churu, Sikar and Bikaner are the other nine districts where the water quality has raised concerns.

New Delhi, Satna-based companies misrepresented facts

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday registered two new first information reports in connection with its ongoing probe into the scam-tainted allocation of coal blocks between 2006 and 2009. The agency booked New Delhi-based Green Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (now Athena Infra Projects) and Kamal Sponge Steel & Power Ltd, Satna in Madhya Pradesh, and their top functionaries, and conducted raids at their offices in six cities.

JAIPUR: The " Rozi Roti Adhikar Yatra" (rally for right to food and employment) that was flagged off from Udaipur district on September 30, reached Jaipur on Saturday after traversing through six districts where it created awareness among people to fight for food security for all without distinction on economic criteria.

JAIPUR: A 43-year-old swine flu patient who was admitted to a private hospital here, a week ago died on Monday. This was the first HIN1 death of the season in the Pink City, confirmed the officials of medical and health department on Tuesday. In this season so far three persons have died due to H1N1 in the state.

Mohan Lal Sharma was tested positive a week ago and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. A resident of Sanganer, Sharma had been in the hospital for a week.

Torrential rains continued to pound some parts of the state including Ajmer and Alwar on Tuesday, leaving at least nine people dead. Around two dozen villages in Alwar district faced a flood-like situation after a heavy downpour for the second day running. The Jaipur met office has forecasted heavy rainfall in 13 districts in the next 36 hours, including the capital.

40,000 Families Including 19,000 From Jaipur To Benefit

Jaipur: Altogether 4,000 families, who lost their houses in the recent heavy rains, would be the first batch of beneficiaries of the Rajasthan Special Housing Scheme, launched by chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday. Under the Special Housing Scheme, the state’s BPL families whose houses were destroyed completely will be provided with a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 while for partial destruction, the assistance would be Rs 25,000. The money would be provided in three installments along with an additional fund of Rs 5,000 for construction of toilets in urban areas and Rs 4,600 in rural areas.

Rains continued to batter half a dozen Rajasthan districts in the eastern and northern parts for the second day on Thursday taking the toll of casualties to 26 in the past 48 hours. Though there was respite in heavy rains in Jaipur -- which had borne the brunt of rains the other day -- the adjoining districts of Dausa, Sikar, Sawai Madhopur and Karauli continued to reel under the impact of unprecedented outpour which the old timers put as heaviest in the past 30 years.
