Jaipur: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation (RIICO) and UltraTech Cement Ltd to set up a Rs 2,000-crore cement project in Jhunjhunu district on Wednesday.
Nitrate has become of the key environmental issues because of its implications on human and animal health. Nitrate enters in the human body through the use of ground water for drinking and causes number of health disorders. In Rajasthan, ground waters of Nagaur, Barmer, Bikaner, Churu, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Jhunjhunu districts were enriched with high nitrate.
Over the last four decades exploitation of natural resources to meet increasing societal demands for land based products has caused significant changes in land use and land cover not only in nature's best gifted regions but also environmentally sensitive arid regions.
Rajasthan has 108.53 lakhs of cattle and 104.46 lakhs buffaloes, out of which Jhunjhunu district had 122.858 cattle and 378,942 buffaloes in 2003. Cattle and buffalo rearing play an important role in improving the socio-economic condition of the rural masses by providing additional income as well as complementing agriculture.
